Boastful Ethiopian Airlines Boss Says Controversial Nigeria Air Starts In October

Despite the controversy and the pronouncement of the 9th Assembly of the Nigeria National Assembly to suspend and terminate whatever agreement that may have been agreed and entered between the immediate past Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika and the Management of Ethiopian Airlines, the airlines continue to undermine and disrespect the vehement oppositions against its involvement from all quarters.

In a recent interview with Bloomberg Television, Mesfin Tasew, Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines announced that Nigeria Air would commence operations even though there is currently no minister of aviation yet that would even investigate the controversial agreement to advise the new president either to go with it or not.

The said agreement has it that Ethiopian Air will own 49 percent of the firm, Nigeria to control 5 – percent and the airlines will start operations with 12 leased Boeing planes.

Tasew noted that an airline established by Ethiopian Airlines Group in partnership with institutional investors and the Nigerian plans to start operations in the West African nation as early as October he said he told Bloomberg.

It would be recalled that the same airline deceived Nigerians with a whitewash aircraft hurriedly painted in Nigeria Air colour 24 hours to the end of the last regime’s tenure that has been also confirmed to be a mere stunt.
