Kwadwo Odame Antwi, Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Tourist Development has announced that his organization is proposing the setting-up of “Akwaaba Hotels,” through a partnership with the private sector at various tourist sites in the country to boost domestic tourism.
Kwadwo disclosed this yesterday at the one-day World Tourism Forum: Africa Summit, organized by a Turkey based company where he hinted that the hotels which would be set-up between two to three years, would be affordable for indigenes to patronize tourist sites for economic growth.
The CEO noted that Ghana is committed to re-orienting Ghanaians on a new sense of national pride in its heritage, culture and way of life through designed programmes and campaigns.
He urged Ghanaians to preserve and protect the nation’s aesthetic values in order to boost the tourism sector.
According to the organizer, the Forum had in the past, been held in Turkey, Dubai and Russia, with Ghana being the first African Country to host the event.
