The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service [NIS], Muhammad Babandede MFR has responded to an article published in the AUGUST edition of our publication, AFRICAN TRAVEL TIMES MAGAZINE [PRINT EDITION] and www.africantraveltimes.com.
In a press release sent to this publication, signed by Sunday James, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration and the Service Public Relations Officer said “that the attention of Comptroller General, Muhammad Babandede MFR been drawn to a media publications alleging untoward conducts by some officers and men of the Service especially as it regards the issuance of passport”.
“The Comptroller General therefore wishes to call on well-meaning Nigerians and indeed the press to assist by availing the Service with specific information on any personnel or any person outside the Service associated with act capable of putting Nigerians into hardship in an effort to acquire passport or any other Immigration facilities including clearance at our ports of entry. The CGI further wishes to inform the general public that officers and men of the Service can be identified by their name tags and badges of rank”.
The release stated further that, “as part of our reforms to entrench transparency, accountability and high level professionalism in our operational activities at all service points. The Service has commissioned a Contact Centre to take care of enquiries and complaints on +2347080607900 and email on nis.servicom@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng. The general public is therefore advised to take advantage of our feedback mechanisms for all their complaints”.
