General Manager of Accra City Hotel the most innovative and award-winning hotel of recent times, was presented with his award as “Hotelier of the Year” at a celebratory Dinner event at the 4th Ghana Hotels Association Awards 2020 in Accra.
The Ghana Hotels Association awards celebrate Ghana’s most exceptional hotelkeepers. Winning “Hotelier of the Year” represents the pinnacle of a career in hotelkeeping. The award is given to an individual displaying the management, leadership and communications skills required to manage a hotel at the highest levels of excellence, along with a commitment to employees and the industry at large.
A judging panel praised Roman Krabel for being “a terrific role model for future hoteliers” who has been at the forefront of operating such visionary hotel as the Accra City Hotel and well as an entirely new brand in Principal. He was also applauded for his “constant search for excellence and commitment to young people starting out in the industry”.
Roman Krabel said: “Although I’m proud of what I do, I did not expect to receive this level of recognition from my peers, bearing in mind my competitors and colleagues and the timing with what is going on. I’m thrilled and delighted by the award.”
Dr. Edward Ackah-Nyamike Jnr., President of Ghana Hotels Association, summed up of the view of the judges: “Roman is one of the dynamic hoteliers of the moment with a track record of innovative and award-winning openings and more recently bringing fresh energy and vision to weary hotels.
He is also one of the most respected hoteliers of our time and his holistic approach to creating new brands and building great teams is a formula, which has earned him a very loyal following.”
Successful hoteliers are a rare breed. Not only are they multi-talented, but they also take on each and every task with enthusiasm and inspirational zeal, no matter how taxing the challenge. That’s why previous winners of the “Hotelier of the Year” award are elite operators, able to turn their hand to any aspect of a hotel’s smooth operation.
They are men and women at the pinnacle of their profession, capable of managing the smooth and successful running of a hotel with a smile for guests and support for staff.
All winners at the 4th Ghana Hotels Association Awards have been hand-picked and rewarded for overall excellence on many levels. The Ghana Hotels Association was formed in 1975 and is made up of Managing Proprietors, Managing Directors or Accredited Representatives of Hotels, Motels, and Guest Houses that have been certified and licensed by the Ghana Tourism Authority [GTA] to offer accommodation, catering and other tourism services in Ghana.
