Travel Agents Prepare For Resumption Of International Flights

The National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies [NANTA], says arrangements are in place to ensure travellers on international flights are well armed with destination protocols, restrictions, and requirements.

The Vice President, NANTA Lagos zone, Yinka Folami stated when the Association distributed facemasks to passengers and airline staff at the domestic terminal 2 in Lagos.

He said they were prepared to ensure international air passengers do not encounter problems at any airports as regards the COVID-19 protocols ahead of the reopening of the nation’s airspace to commercial international flights on the 29th of this month.

Yinka Folami said, their members have been sensitized and educated on what the protocols are, from the airport to boarding, in-flight, and at the destination.

He said armed with this information, this would give NANTA members the opportunity to act as consultants to the traveling public, adding that with the pandemic, they have been challenged to go beyond their ticketing services.

Folami said the aforementioned were to ensure seamless airport facilitation from departure and arrival ahead of international flight resumption on the 29th of this month from Lagos and Abuja.

On the number of international airlines ready to commence flights, the Chairman, Corporate Social Responsibility NANTA, Ima Victor-Ekpo said few airlines have informed NANTA of their flight restart from the 1st of September while others would follow subsequently.

“We have been in touch with all the airlines, we’ve been in webinars with them, most of them are starting 1st if September but others have also pushed to October because they have to be ready.”

She said as part of their preparedness for restart, they decided to distribute facemasks to reassure customers of air travel that it was safe to fly.
