Chat With Gloria Guevara of Mexico, Candidate For UN Tourism Secretary General Tomorrow At 11 GMT
Few days ago, the African Travel Commission [ATC] endorsed Gloria Guevara of Mexico, citing her exceptional qualifications and global outlook for the soon to be vacant position of UN Tourism, a specialised agency of the United Nations [UN in the field of travel and tourism.
As a former Minister of Tourism of Mexico and former chief executive officer of the World Travel and Tourism Council [WTTC], Guevara brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors.
In assuring our continent that we have made the right decision; we shall be engaging her in the coming days and the details will shared on this platform where she be answering our questions and speaking to Africa tourism sector of the reforms we should be expecting if she’s successful.
Established in the 1960s by the chief executive officers of national tourism agencies across Africa, the ATC was modelled after the European Travel Commission [ETC]. The Commission played a historic role in the establishment of World Tourism Day, marked globally on September 27, and has been a consistent advocate for equitable representation and policy leadership in global tourism.
