Lagos Seeks Investors For Tourism Facilities
Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is ready for ideas and plans by investors for the replication of wonderful leisure and tourism facilities in all parts of the State.
This statement was made by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture Folorunsho Folarin-Coker during the official commissioning of the redeveloped Apapa Amusement Park on Saturday 30th January, 2016.
In his address the commissioner noted that the event is another significant step by the administration of His Excellency, Akinwunmi Ambode to use Tourism, Hospitality, Entertainment and Sports [THESE] as a tool to stimulate the economy of the State.
Folarin-Coker noted that the park used to be number one leisure spot for healthy family entertainment, recreation and relaxation in entire Lagos, but suffered depreciation and the value derived from visiting the park by every family in Lagos diminished. However, the State Government in conjunction with other stakeholders and a new concessionaire took interest in the resuscitation of the park.
The commissioner further stated that the park offers Lagosians an opportunity for the regeneration of family values and bonding. In his words “leisure spot with facilities as contained here goes a long way in stimulating the mind through recreation and entertainment.”
Folarin-coker seized the opportunity to inform Lagosians that the administration of His Excellency, Akinwunmi Ambode will continue to invest in the creation of enabling environment and platforms for partnership with interested private sector organizations; he said the intervention will affect all facets of tourism, entertainment, hospitality and generate multiplier value for the State economy.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, the Special adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Arts and Culture ”Amusement parks provide picture-perfect moments and memories to last a time and ideal place for family fun, that means parents have extra time to spend with their children, and what better way to engage in classic fun with family and friends than to visit Apapa Amusement park”.
She also commended the vision of the State Government, the five owner Local Governments and Messr Cube Nig. Ltd in making sure re-investment into the park is secured and for recreating a park of the children’s dream.

Babalola Mogaji, Secretary Apapa Local Government, the Lisa and Ekerin of Ojora Kingdom, Chief Ojora Adejiyan and Brig. General [Rtd] Ayo Vaughan, Chairman Apapa GRA residents Association.
