Lagos State Government has commiserated with the Lagos State Chapter of Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, [FTAN], in particular, and the national body of the Association over the demise of the National President of the Association, Alhaji Saleh Kareem Rabo.
Rabo, whose death occurred over the weekend, precisely on Friday, has since been buried according to Muslim rites.
The State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Pharm. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf in a condolence message issued on behalf of the State Government and the entire tourism family in the State to the leadership of the Federation described Rabo’s death as a rude shock and unexpected to the entire FTAN family and other stakeholders in the tourism sector.
Akinbile-Yusuf, urged the leadership of the Association to ensure the sustenance of the ideas and ideals of the deceased, saying that the late tourism icon, contributed his quota to the promotion of the nation’s rich tourism potentials within and outside the country.
“Our condolences go to the Coordinator of Lagos State Chapter of FTAN, Gbenga Sunmonu, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, FTAN, Chief Sam Alabi, the Vice President of FTAN Southwest zone, Otunba Ayo Olumoko, and other executive members of this great Association.
“Among several other initiatives by Alhaji Rabo, the State Government called on the leadership of FTAN to ensure that the hope of re-establishing FTAN operational presence in each of the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria by the deceased is kept alive.
” So, on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture and the entire tourism family in Lagos State, I express our heartfelt grief and pains over the death of Alhaji Saleh Kareem Rabo and pray for the repose of his soul “, the Commissioner.
