Divine Matey has been appointed as the new General Manager of the premier Accra City Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
His appointment is in line with the commitment of the hotel’s management, to preserve its position as the best choice for temporary lodging in Accra—the capital city of Ghana.
Mr. Matey is a Chartered Accountant certified by the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana and a Certified Executive Practitioner certified by the Academy of Executives and Administrators UK. He is also the first Ghanaian to lead the facility since its inception in 1988.
Mr. Matey is an alumnus of the Gugliemo Marconi University [Italy], Universidad Catolica De Murcia [Spain], Accra Technical University, Presbyterian Boys Secondary School [Legon], Martin de Porres Preparatory School [Dansoman].
He has been a member of the Institute of Management Specialists UK since 2014, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana since 2008. He is a Rotarian and a Past President [2020/21] of the Rotary Club of Accra Osu Oxford Street.
Matey’s career at the Accra City Hotel spans a period of 23 years where he has held various positions including Store keeper, Purchasing Manager, Financial Accountant, Chief Accountant and Financial Controller.
His experience at the hotel, equips him with comprehensive knowledge of its operations which he will bring to bear to transform the hotel into a comprehensively green and Eco-friendly destination, positioned to do sustainable business in the 21st century.
Mr. Matey identifies the human resources as the most relevant asset the organization possesses. He looks forward to developing a self-motivated work force who love their roles and are well energized to serve their clients.
His appointment takes effect from 1st September, 2022.
