The Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, with the Comptroller General of Immigration Service [CGIS], K.N. Nandap attended the closing ceremony of a 5-Day Training Programme themed, “Application of Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Records Data in National Security and Law Enforcement”. The training took place from 17th February – 21st February, 2025.
The training, which had 100 participants drawn from various units within the Service’s Directorates, was facilitated by specialists from the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism [UNOCT], namely Mr. Robert Musgrave, a Passenger Information Unit [PIU] Expert and Mr Dennis Hands [Law Enforcement Expert].
Speaking at the event, the HMI expressed the commitment of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to support global security as well as strengthen National Security through multifaceted e-Border solutions.
The CGIS, in her remarks, expressed gratitude to the Hon. Minister and the facilitators for their respective roles, noting that the training was highly beneficial in enhancing the operations of the Command and Control Centre after its commissioning by the President on 10th December 2024. She emphasized the Service unwavering commitment to training and capacity building to ensure full utilization and efficiency of the Centre towards Border Security.
IOM Representative, Emiola Oke, commended the Nigerian Government and the NIS for their sustained effort towards Border Security and Migration Management and expressed partnership determination for optimal success.
The training underscores the commitment of the Service to adopting cutting-edge technologies in enhancing National Security and promoting global best practices in Migration Management.
