The President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies [NANTA], Yinka Folami, and members of his Executive Council arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, yesterday for a five-day business meeting with key executives of Turkish Airlines and the travel trade group in the country.
The meeting, convened at the invitation of Turkish Airlines – one of the largest airlines spanning both Europe and Asia – is aimed at fostering new trade partnerships between the airline and Nigeria’s foremost travel trade association.
Discussions will also centre on strategies to bolster the airline’s position as the preferred carrier for Nigerian passengers. The engagement with Turkey’s travel trade professionals is also expected to explore new avenues for collaboration, with a particular focus on creating additional revenue streams for NANTA members.
Leading the delegation alongside the NANTA President were Chinyere Umeasiegbu, 1st Deputy President; Dr Dagunduro Olatokunbo, 2nd Deputy President; Yinka Ladipo, National Financial Secretary; Adelola Adewole, National Publicity Secretary; Johnson Ugochukwu, National Internal Auditor; Kemabonta Uloma Ibiwari, Vice President, Abuja Zone; and Yinka Olapade, Vice President, Lagos Zone.
Also in attendance was Mohammad Nasir Chamo, Vice President, Northern Zone. Speaking on the significance of the meeting, Chamo noted that the timing was opportune and underscored Turkish Airlines’ commitment to the growth of Nigeria’s travel trade sector.
“This is a forward-looking partnership, thoughtfully curated to strengthen the Nigerian travel trade market,” Folami stated. “We are here to learn, to exchange ideas for mutual growth, and to support our principal, Turkish Airlines. This opportunity is a significant investment in our future, and we hope other partners will follow this transformative example.”
