TB Joshua: ‘Characters’ In BBC’s Documentary Unknown To Us – Synagogue Church
…Denying them is not the way to go - Lucky George
The Synagogue Church of all Nations [SCOAN], has countered the BBC documentary on the late Temitope Babatunde Joshua, known as TB Joshua, founder of SCOAN.
SCOAN described the documentary against TB Joshua as unfounded, and that the characters interviewed in the report were unknown to the church.
The church, in a statement signed by its Public Affairs Director, Dare Adejumo, said the statement was aimed at disabusing public minds from the report.
The News Agency of Nigeria [NAN] recalls that the BBC released a highly controversial and damning documentary on the late TB Joshua on yesterday Monday 8th of January 2024, accusing him of various crimes, including rape and torture, against some members.
Synagogue said, “BBC World Services investigative unit, code-named Africa Eye, came out this week with weird and strange episodes of atrocities against the late founder of SCOAN.”
It said that to investigate and publish or broadcast reports was a central kernel of journalism, but to do so outside the ethics and fundamental principles of the profession was an aberration.
According to the church, journalism as a societal watchdog requires fairness, balance, and objectivity to command dignity, honour, and respect as the fourth estate of the realm.
“BBC has compromised these lofty principles by descending into fictional narratives and propaganda, thus turning itself into a weapon for a hatchet job as gangsters in the gab of journalism with a destructive ulterior motive for personal gains against a perceived enemy.
“Only the BBC can best explain why it woefully deviated from true journalism and chose to be dishing junk and feeding the public with stones called bread by its offensive and disenchanted reports of disgruntled elements.
“This, to say the least, is insulting to our professional and public intelligence. One thing is obvious: hundreds of BBC charades cannot rubbish the indelible footprints of TB Joshua’s legacies on earth again.” Joshua’s.
According to the Church, thousands of human beings have received dumbfounding miracles and tremendously benefited from the anointing and grace the Lord endowed with His servant.
“Those beneficiaries are all over the place and cannot be disputed; they are lining up and responding angrily to this imperialist broadcasting station.
“Many of them are in the UK, the home base of the BBC, but which its jaundiced investigative eyes cannot see, but only the obviously suborned narrators!
“Myriads of broken homes reconciled by TB Joshua are also crying foul of BBC’s broadcast of iniquity. Uncountable hopeless children drawn from different parts of the world—some brought by their parents while others were picked from drug joints or brothels—who have gotten their destinies restored are also pissed off by the offensive reports.
”BBC has obviously shot itself in the foot by its compromise and roadside journalism.”
It said the BBC would not have lost anything if it had gone to the church even in disguise as visitors to have direct experience of what was happening in the church instead of relying on disgruntled and manipulated individuals, some of whom were never known before in SCOAN.
“Some of those identified are relics of homosexual and lesbian associates.
“My findings further show that everything the BBC put together is strange to SCOAN.
“One other clearly illogical thing in the charade is the BBC categorical statement that the TB Joshua, man of God was involved in all the abuse for over two decades.
“How can that be in a nation governed by law? It shows the station’s crude disrespect and bizarre perception of Nigeria.
“Where were all those shameless interviewees in all the decades? Was it when the man passed on that they suddenly became awake or came back to their senses? Only a fool will have respect for such charlatans.”
According to it, this is not only shameful to hear but also insulting to see from the work of supposedly well-trained reporters.
It pointed out that it was all to call the dog a bad name so that they could hang it.
It added that it was obvious that the sponsors of the BBC hatchet job on TB Joshua must have been envious of the continued growth of the church, like the tree planted by the riverside.
“Thank God your report exonerated his only wife of any wrongdoings throughout the decades of your so-called investigated lopsided work.
“But did you think any wife at all can see and watch all those nonsensical and annoying scenarios you painted for decades and still kept silent? I am yet to read or see such a woman in the universe.
“This is illogical, irritating, incomprehensible, unfathomable, and satanically dubious and malicious.”
The church condemned the report, and begged God to forgive the sponsors, saying persecution of divine envoys or servants of God was not new in history.
It noted that for cursed and manipulated false witnesses to arise against the Gospel had been the lot of the Church.
I felt we all failed the victims, even though some of the victims themselves can be seen as enablers that allowed the abuse to be extended to others for not speaking out.
As you will find out in the link that I will attach to this comment, I was writing only on the tourism component of the church because that was my interest from day one that I first visited the church as an undercover reporter in 2000 after hearing of the huge number of foreign visitors to Nigeria because of the church till 2020 that I stopped asking for regular number of visitors.
Like the BBC acknowledged at the end of its report that it reached out to the church and all they got was that these allegations were not new and there were no proofs either of such wrongdoings against TB Joshua.
Without a doubt, some of the faces in the report are familiar people that I have seen in the church environment during my occasional visits to the church between 2000 and 2020.
Back to the report itself, I am shocked and embarrassed that the BBC never mentioned collaborators in London, US, and other countries around the world. Not even a mention of the foreigners [British people], that oversaw TB Joshua monies and assets abroad.
Since TB Joshua death on Saturday 5th of June 2021, a week prior to his 58th birthday, I have been trying to meet some of those inner caucus members that some of the faces in the report were members at a time till last year in Lagos that I ran into one of them.
Out of curiosity, I jumped out of my car and shouted her name because I can still picture her face and recollect her name very well. To cut the story short, I was shocked to discover that she was not in any way related to TB Joshua as I have thought over the years because of her supposed closeness to the Prophet during my early visits when the church was bare floors, crude and uninviting.
To my surprise too, she also told me how she was kicked out of the church over an allegation of something she told me never happened, but with tearing eyes, she lamented how she wasted 27 years of her life in the church only to be kicked out with nothing.
In the 27 years, she said, she never went to school, nor acquired any skill which to me was wicked and unacceptable. According to her, she was not alone, but to all of them that served in the church.
She added, it was the same for the men and other women, majority of whom came voluntarily or brought by their parents as teenagers. Anyway, I ‘m still investigating, and my motive is to get the Synagogue Church of All Nations [SCOAN] to compensate the victims for the period they spent in the service of SCOAN without reward.
Tragically, the church was always visited covertly by foreign embassies staff, foreign agents, and private investigators and none picked up or got winds of TB Joshua’s atrocities even in this era of internet facilities that is abundantly available everywhere in Nigeria that the victims could have also use to reach out to their families and even security agents in their home countries.
However, out-rightly saying that the ‘Characters’ in the BBC’s Documentary on TB Joshua are unknown to the church is not the way to go.
